Background of the Beetle Brothers:
長谷川竜野 (Tatsuno Hasegawa, wearing the Japanese rhinoceros mask) and 佐藤修吾 (Shugo Sato, wearing the Hercules beetle mask) are two contract killers working for a secret assassin group named 悪犬組 (Aku Inu Kumi, AKA the Evil Dog) in Yokohama, Japan. Hasegawa and Sato are both murderous psychopaths who share an extremely twisted "hobby" - mutilating and collecting body parts. Even worse, these highly trained killers are biologically "enhanced" with genes from notorious serial/mass murderers in history - Sato was injected with the gene modification serum developed from the gene of "Jack the Ripper", who terrorized Londoners in 1888; Hasegawa inherited the gene of 天草四郎時貞 (Amakusa Shirō Tokisada), who led the extremely bloody Shimabara Rebellion.
Each figure comes with a highly detailed beetle mask that represents his twisted mind, plus signature clothing and weapons.

Stunning
I did not get the first version of the Beetle Brothers, but this version has far surpassed my expectations. The tailoring of the clothes is some of the best I have seen, and the samurai theme dovetails quite well with the beetle anatomy. The additional helmet and scroll pieces top off the excellent beetle faces. Also, having two of these figures to complement one another is a delight.
